About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Policy Development Intern to conduct comprehensive research on St. Louis neighborhood business districts. This remote internship offers an exceptional opportunity for a high-achieving high school student to gain real-world experience in economic development, policy analysis, and community development while contributing meaningful research to our organizational goals.


Key Project:

St. Louis Comparative Analysis
Over 6 weeks, you will lead a comprehensive study comparing neighborhood business districts across St. Louis to understand:

Types and impact of businesses
Economic impact of small businesses
Tax revenue within neighborhoods
Influence on nearby values and density
Best practices in policy development

Primary Responsibilities:

Research & Analysis (60%)
Professional Networking & Learning (25%)
Communication & Deliverables (15%)

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Current high school student (junior or senior preferred)

  • Strong academic performance (3.5+ GPA)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and basic data analysis

  • Reliable internet access and quiet workspace for remote work

  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills



Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in economics, urban planning, public policy, or business

  • Experience with research projects or academic competitions

  • Familiarity with St. Louis geography and neighborhoods

  • Basic understanding of business operations or community development

  • Previous internship, volunteer, or leadership experience
